Exchange architecture

How the Exchange Model Works

The proposed model structures reciprocal exchange through asset offers, reference-based valuation, technology-enabled matching, participant acceptance, contracts and evidence of fulfilment.

A structured process

From commercial need to documented fulfilment.

The process brings participant verification, asset registration, reference-based valuation, opportunity matching, documented commitments and fulfilment evidence into a coordinated exchange workflow. Expand each stage to review its purpose.

01Qualify participants

Participants submit relevant identity, registration and beneficial-ownership information for review under the proposed verification framework.

02Register assets and offers

Participants describe the productive goods or services available for exchange, including quantity, quality specifications, location and relevant commercial conditions.

03Establish reference value

The Foundational Trade Value (FTV) methodology is intended to use published third-party reference data to support transparent comparison and exchange accounting.

04Identify exchange matches

Technology is intended to surface complementary bilateral or multilateral exchange opportunities for the relevant participants to assess. A suggested match does not itself constitute participant acceptance.

05Agree and document obligations

Accepted opportunities proceed to structured ASTRA-C documentation, recording the agreed terms, responsibilities, timelines and an auditable account of the parties’ obligations.

06Inspect, fulfil and confirm

Joint pre-delivery or pre-shipment inspection, where applicable, and recorded delivery evidence are intended to reduce ambiguity and support confirmation of fulfilment.

Important boundaries

The model is not a substitute for licensed financial infrastructure.

Zamani Africa is not designed to hold, transfer, clear or settle monetary funds. Where a residual monetary balance may arise, settlement is contemplated through participants’ own licensed banking channels and existing payment infrastructure, including PAPSS where applicable and legally appropriate.

The proposed Zamani Exchange Unit is not activated in the initial non-monetary pilot design. Any future use would require formal regulatory characterisation and the necessary approvals before deployment.
