Following its incorporation as a Nigerian limited liability company, Zamani Africa is strengthening its corporate foundations and aligning its strategic direction with its developing approach to Structured Non-Monetary Trade (SNMT).

The retreat also provided an opportunity to review preparations for Zamani Africa's forthcoming engagement at the Trade Solutions Clinic, featured during the 10th Global Review of Aid for Trade, scheduled for 29–30 October 2026 at the World Trade Organization (WTO) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The 2026 Global Review marks the twentieth anniversary of the WTO's Aid for Trade Initiative, launched in 2006.

Corporate Governance and Institutional Development

The retreat considered Zamani Africa's organizational structure, management responsibilities and governance arrangements. Discussions focused on the institutional systems, accountability mechanisms and decision-making processes required to support the company's next phase of development.

The leadership recognized that sustainable growth depends on sound corporate governance, clearly defined responsibilities, effective coordination and disciplined implementation. These principles remain central to building an institution capable of engaging credibly with businesses, public institutions, prospective partners and international stakeholders.

Preparing for International Trade Engagement

The forthcoming Trade Solutions Clinic provides an opportunity for Zamani Africa to present its developing SNMT approach within broader discussions on trade facilitation, market access and the institutional conditions that support commercial exchange.

The company's proposition centres on organizing reciprocal trade through structured processes for valuation, verification, counterparty engagement and agreed performance. Its perspective emphasizes transaction readiness: the institutional and informational preparation needed to help prospective counterparties assess commercial opportunities, establish the basis for an exchange and determine whether mutually acceptable terms can be agreed.

Through this engagement, Zamani Africa seeks to contribute to discussions on how structured approaches to reciprocal trade may complement existing trade and financial infrastructure. The company recognizes the importance of clear governance, reliable information and commercially agreed terms in developing approaches that respond to real-world trading challenges.

Zamani Africa's framework and associated platform capabilities remain under development and testing. Its participation in the WTO-hosted event should not be interpreted as endorsement or approval of the company's approach by the WTO.

Digital Infrastructure and Technological Development

The leadership reviewed Zamani Africa's digital platform, considering priorities relating to usability, functionality, data integrity and stakeholder engagement as development progresses.

The discussions also addressed the relationship between technology, verification processes, institutional controls and operational reliability. The leadership emphasized the importance of ensuring that digital development is supported by appropriate governance arrangements, realistic implementation plans and continued refinement of the company's systems.

Partnerships, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement

The retreat considered priorities for partnership development and engagement with relevant institutions, professional networks, prospective partners and other stakeholders whose expertise and participation may contribute to Zamani Africa's development.

Communications, branding and public relations were also identified as important areas of strategic attention. The leadership underscored the need for clear, consistent and evidence-based communication of the company's vision, institutional development and operational status.

These efforts are intended to strengthen public understanding of Zamani Africa's proposition and support constructive engagement with stakeholders across Nigeria and the wider African trade ecosystem.

Implementation Priorities and the Way Forward

The leadership examined project implementation planning, organizational capacity, leadership development and performance measurement. Discussions focused on the importance of establishing clear strategic objectives, realistic milestones and practical action plans for the coming year.

The retreat's deliberations are informing the preparation of formal corporate resolutions and an accompanying implementation framework. Once finalized, these documents will establish the agreed priorities, responsibilities and follow-up arrangements for the company's next phase of development.

Zamani Africa's immediate priorities include strengthening its institutional foundations, refining its developing approach to SNMT, advancing platform development and preparing for constructive engagement with relevant stakeholders in Nigeria and internationally.

About Zamani Africa Trade Systems Ltd.

Zamani Africa Trade Systems Ltd. is an incorporated Nigerian company (RC: 9919300) developing an approach to Structured Non-Monetary Trade (SNMT). Its proposition is to organize reciprocal commercial exchanges through structured processes for valuation, verification, counterparty engagement and agreed performance.

The company seeks to explore ways of helping businesses exchange goods, commodities and services where conventional cash-based arrangements may constrain otherwise viable commercial opportunities. Its developing approach is intended to complement existing trade, banking and payment infrastructure rather than replace established financial systems.

Through its institutional development, technology work and stakeholder engagement, Zamani Africa aims to contribute to discussions on more structured, transparent and commercially grounded approaches to reciprocal trade.

The proposition

Organising exchange around the value that already exists.

African enterprises can hold useful goods, services and productive capacity while lacking a straightforward way to exchange them when conventional monetary settlement is constrained, costly or commercially unattractive. Zamani Africa proposes a governed process for bringing complementary commercial needs into contact.

Rather than returning to informal barter, the model combines participant verification, asset information, a valuation methodology, technology-enabled matching, structured contracts, evidence of obligations and delivery confirmation. It is designed to complement existing market and financial infrastructure, not displace it.

Pilot approachEvidence-led pilot development

The proposed pilot is designed to assess operational feasibility, participant experience and the conditions required for responsible scaling.

Institutional discipline

Designed to complement, not replace, existing infrastructure.

The proposed operating boundaries do not assign Zamani Africa custody of, or responsibility for holding, transferring, clearing or settling monetary funds. Where a residual monetary balance may arise, the design contemplates settlement through participants' own licensed banking channels and existing infrastructure where applicable. The legal and regulatory characterisation of proposed features must be confirmed before deployment.
